If you have a small home, chances are you also have a small bathroom. Or two. I think we forget to make our bathroom special. It should be a place that makes us feel good, and also a place where we can stretch our creativity muscle. After all, you don’t spend hours a day in there, (hopefully!) so taking a few creative risks in the bath is a good thing. So here are some quick small bathroom ideas and small bathroom storage ideas (with inspiration!) to get you rolling up your sleeves!

Lets check out all these Small Bathroom Ideas!

First off, lets start with some simple tips to keep in mind.

  • Bathroom storage is everything. If it’s cluttered, it will never be a spa like space. Need help with that? Try our posts on DIY bathroom towel storage and repurposed bathroom storage ideas.
  • Use calming bathroom color schemes. Not only will that make your small bathroom look larger, it will be a peaceful place for you as well.
  • Add personality. Quirky storage pieces, a modern print shower curtain, or a focal piece of art you wouldn’t normally see in a bath all work towards making a statement. Your bathroom can be unforgettable no matter how small it is!
  • Make sure you have proper bathroom lighting. I hate those compact fluorescents in the bathroom, because they give off such an odd light color. Use LED bulbs if you can for the truest light.

Small Bathroom Decorating Ideas

From ‘BHG‘, using a larger, oversized mirror is one of the best small bathroom decorating ideas around! It visually creates a larger looking space, and also reflects light. If you have one of those boring builder grade mirrors, no worries. Check out this tutorial at ‘Love and Renovations‘ on how to frame a bathroom mirror.

So, this pink and gold bathroom rates pretty high with us. It is one of the best DIY small bathroom makeovers we have seen! Go check out the before and after, and prepare to get inspired on just how to decorate a small bathroom! From ‘A Beautiful Mess‘, this is a beautiful job. And yes, she did this herself!

If you need fresh small bathroom ideas, then try this tip from ‘Liz Marie‘. You can use non-traditional wall art in a bathroom. It just adds to the charm! This gallery wall  in her guest bathroom is a great example of not leaving the bathroom as an afterthought in decorating. Such vintage charm, we love it!

Build this DIY bathroom vanity with this step by step tutorial from ‘Shades of Blue Interiors‘. The finish on this is a weathered grey, and we love the styling of this whole room. Try your hand at a DIY bathroom remodeling idea like this one!

Small Bathroom Storage Ideas

Build this DIY ladder shelf for your small bathroom with these plans from ‘Lowes‘. A drill, a saw and some 1×3’s are all it takes to create this perfect small bathroom. And the framed kids art on the wall? Priceless!

Make these DIY bathroom shelves with the help of this tutorial from ‘Lolly Jane‘. Just when you thought over the toilet storage was boring, right? Lots of photos and instruction to help you make these right.

Build bathroom storage shelves like this one from ‘Remodelaholic’! She has the plans right there for you, and this project costs less than $30 in lumber. This is one of those small bathroom ideas that anyone can use. Most tiny baths have an awkward corner that is just wasted space. Fill it with a storage shelf!

Here is an inspirational example of good small bathroom storage from ‘Design Sponge‘.  These bathroom shelves are tucked into an unused corner. Note that the only bathroom decor in here is plants. And they love it!

Ok, we admit it. This small bathroom organizing idea is from the great store in the sky, ‘Amazon‘.  We just couldn’t pass this up! Its $15 and full of built in storage. And it looks so cool at the same time!

Rolling carts like this one from Ikea are the perfect storage idea for small bathrooms. ‘A Beautiful Mess‘ created an organized beauty center with their cart.

This photo from ‘Houzz‘ is a perfecter example of how to find storage in a small bathroom. This storage niche was created in the wall between the studs. You can find a tutorial on how to build a wall niche from Jenna at ‘SAS Interiors‘.

Not all small bathroom storage has to be over the toilet or under the sink. Use those empty walls to add storage and style, like this example from ‘BHG‘.

Finally, this traditional bathroom from ‘Houzz‘ is all about small bathroom organization. They installed shelving and drawers with electrical outlets under the sink to compensate for the lack of counter space. These are the tiny bathroom ideas that make a small space really livable.

Lots of small bathroom ideas here for everyone to try! We think you will also love our post on Tiny Bath Makeovers!

In the second to last picture I would love to know who the bathtub is made by and where to get it?

Hi Stephanie…not sure if you found out about the bath-tub, but you could try contacting the House Beautiful magazine and I am sure they would be able to tell you…alternatively, you could make your own tub look the same by heightening it and then encasing it with a tongue and groove surround…good luck:)

Were the cabinets in the first picture custom? They look like they are about 12″ deep.

On the photo labeled NYCLQ I would like to duplicate the look. I wold like as much information on color choices and materials used. The walls look as if they are textured wallpaper.

    Thanks for your help.
