Repurposing is the new buzz word in the design field, and has crossed all genres. Why? Because we live in a world where we want to do better for our planet, our homes and our pocketbooks…and where we also value creativity over things you can buy. I like that in this world. So redecorating by repurposing isn’t a new concept, but it’s one that is getting a lot of attention. So whether you just want to save a few bucks, waste less, or just have some really cool and unique decor, repurposing is for you.

First let’s be inspired by the use of this gorgeous old chair…

Use old skis to create a tabletop for this side table. Easy!

This DIY bird cage light turned upside down and used as a chandelier is inspiring! Design Sponge has the how-to.

Olive picking basket as a light fixture, from Buttermilk Kitchen.

Check out Saved by Love Creations for instructions on making this DIY crate side table.

Love, love love this DIY pallet baby gate! Looks sooooo much nicer than those plastic things! Great instructions too!

DIY pallet dining table – we love this table but not sure if this is the correct source. Please let us know in comments if anybody knows what blog this comes from. Would love to give the correct credit and link.

Oversized message board created from an old mattress spring, from Donna, our favorite Funky Junk creator!

Home office, also by Donna… almost everything in this room is repurposed decor!

This project from Martha is simply casters attached to an old picnic basket to create a side table with charm.

From old door to DIY coat rack…and it’s crazy decorative! Step by step from Gypsy Home…

From Milas Hem, this wonderful inspiration board from an old window.

I think the DIY pallet table is actually a unique table with magnetic slats that can be flipped for a new look. from

Some gorgeous ideas here with great colours. I LOVE that blue chair, is it painted in Annie Sloan do you think?

It definitely could be chalk paint, or you could create the same look with a chalk paint product!
