Storage is necessary in a small home, built ins are great… put them together and you have a cure-all for any of your organizing woes! These clever built in storage ideas you never thought of, but thankfully, someone did. We love every single one of these ideas for getting your stuff under wraps. Some of them might inspire a DIY project, (a few already are!) some of them might be worth a splurge, but all of them make living in a tiny space a little more… well, livable!

Our first storage idea is from ‘Decora Cabinetry‘ via ‘Midwest Living‘. What more could you want in a built in medicine cabinet?

From ‘BHG‘, this tilt out built in storage bin was built into an existing wall, between the two studs. This is something a DIY’er can do, but make sure you cross your t’s and dot your i’s… You don’t want to open up a wall that has electrical or plumbing lines run through it!

From Shelly Amoroso Design, this slide out built in at ‘HGTV‘ is the perfect way to have a linen closet inside the bathroom, when there is not room for one.

Do or DIY” made this pull out built in trash bin, and I think we all need this! If you scroll down a bit you will find the post on this project, and they explain how they did it, and even where they got the slide hardware.

This is another great idea from ‘BHG‘ using the wall area between studs. Install built in niches for storage, then use wall art as “cabinet doors’.

Also, they have this idea on using those empty drawer fronts in the kitchen as flip out silverware drawers… This would be a great storage idea in a bathroom too… Lipstick holder!

Use the interior of cabinet doors to add more built in storage space for kitchen goodies… From ‘BHG‘.

Ok, so I hate seeing a toilet plunger or toilet scrubber out in plain sight. ‘Stacks and Stacks’ carries this amazing toilet plunger storage built in cabinet that recesses into the wall, so you never see any of that stuff until you need it! From ‘Remodelista‘.

Ok, so you know those wasted spaces in your home? Bet you never thought of the bathtub! From ‘Apartment Therapy‘ this storage idea is a stowaway bathtub. The sides of the tub flip out with doors that hold all those necessary bath items. Smart!

Lastly from ‘Maison and Demeure‘, this built in canister drawer would make baking and cooking a breeze, and free up pantry space. I would love to have all my staples have their own built in storage area. Spices, baking supplies, condiments. Love!

Would be great if you had links to each specific project. Can’t get to either BHG one I’m interested in.

Both BHG links are working for us, you just simply have to scroll through the projects in their article, or click “View All” in the upper right.

who on earth would want an open condiment drawer in their kitchen? Open flour for weevils? Open brown sugar that dries up and hardens?? Open sugar for ants? Not a fan.

The containers have airtight lids. I’m sure they are off just for the photo.

Great ideas! I’m in the process of converting a school bus to a tiny house on wheels. It looks like a lot of these ideas could be useful for the design of our bus! Thanks for sharing!
