Quick Tips For Redoing Your Apartment
By Judith Allison

Winter Pick Me Ups that Are Easy to Implement

Making just a few minor changes in your decorating can give your apartment an entirely different look, and it can be done cheaply and simply. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of sprucing up.

Brighten the upholstery by shampooing it or giving it a good vacuuming. If that doesn't do it, try some inexpensive slipcovers. Shake out and brush area rugs to make them stand up and look new again. Declutter table tops or regroup your collectibles to make them appear different.

You Can Go A Long Way With A Little

If you have a little money to spend, buy a new area rug in colors that are appropriate for the season, and add to the look with new covers on your throw pillows, and by changing the color scheme of any flower arrangements and candles you have around the rooms. But store the old ones carefully. You can change them back when you get tired of this look!

Arrange The Handles and Knobs In Kitchens & Bathrooms To Make A Statement

In kitchens and bathrooms, or for that matter on any doors and cabinets anywhere, try changing the handles and knobs for a pleasing new statement. They can be costly, but try the flea markets, garage sales, etc. before you head for retail stores. Sometimes you can find an old chest of drawers at a garage sale that has lots of great knobs and handles, and you can buy the whole piece for less than buying new hardware!

Add Interest With Spot Lighting

Add new interest to your wall hangings and collectibles by adding some spot lighting, or add a plant grouping lit from behind with floor cans. You can change the appearance of a small window by hanging draperies above and wider than the window, and having them hang to the floor. When drawn and tied back, never let the sides of the windows show.

Redecorating Is A Great Way To Jazz Up Your Interior Surroundings

As we head into the darkest part of the year, redecorating is a great way to jazz up your interior surroundings and fight off the darkness and depression that comes with cold weather. Adding strategically placed lighting, candles and other minor changes to your apartment makes things cheery and bright. It doesn't take much to make a big difference.
