What are accent walls? Accent walls are usually one wall decorated to be the focal point of the room. They add pattern, color, style and design in a big way, for just a little money.  They can be “accented” with various paint techniques, wallpaper, tape or even fabric. The easiest and fastest way to create an accent wall, however, is paint. Using a little creativity and these great tutorials from bloggers around the web, you can transform the whole feeling of a room by creating just one accent wall. Or, do one for each room! Our featured photo (above) is by Olive and Love. They have a complete tutorial on making this DIY shutter accent wall! This is one of the most creative walls I’ve seen!

This project is an easy DIY from Ann Kelle. She created a washi tape wall! Washi tape is a Japanese masking type tape found in lots of colors and patterns, and can be found at lots of craft and home improvement stores now. I think I would try this on a small accent wall… my arms would ache!

Centsational Girl shows us how to create her painted trellis wall with her own stencil! She gives us complete instructions including how she made the stencil for the wall.

Actress Tori Spelling shows us how she created her paper doily entry wall in her own home using spray paint! Love all the color and that it has a graphic look, with a little softness close up.

At Everything Emily, she used the same washi tape in the project above to create DIY washi tape decals for her accent wall. Think how many different colors/designs you could use this idea for! I’m starting to get really intrigued by the washi tape idea!

Oh Happy Day made this dot wall DIY with acrylic paints and sweet potatoes as stamps! Love this!093de193b83d4150d635f024860ec404

This one is purely inspiration, because unfortunately, we don’t have a tutorial. It is reclaimed wood and it is an accent wall after my own heart! See more images of this studio at Julia Robbs.

The Fancy Yanceys have step by step photos and instructions for this DIY chevron accent wall. Chevron stripes are very current in design right now, so we’re big fans of this project. Also big fans of how it’s used on just a small entry wall, but makes big impact!

Also a DIY chevron wall from Ruthie Hart… we applaud her for hard work, but well worth it!
